Erucamide is a long-chain unsaturated fatty acid amide from the same slip-agent family as Oleamide, valued for its higher melting point and slower, more sustained migration to the film surface. This makes it well suited to applications that run hotter during processing or see elevated temperatures in service.
Like other primary slip agents, Erucamide bleeds to the polymer surface after processing to form a thin lubricating layer, lowering the coefficient of friction between film layers and against processing equipment without compromising clarity or heat-seal strength when dosed correctly.
Key Benefits
- Higher melting point than Oleamide for better thermal stability
- Sustained slip performance over the life of the film
- Low coefficient of friction for smoother winding and handling
- Good compatibility with polyolefins
- Effective in relatively low dosages
