Glycerol Monostearate
GMS
Multifunctional additive providing antistatic, antifog and internal lubrication properties in polyolefins.
- Appearance
- White to off-white beads or powder
- Chemical Name
- Glycerol Monostearate
- CAS No.
- 97-64-3
- Molecular Formula
- C21H42O4
Glycerol Monostearate (GMS) is an ester of glycerol and stearic acid used across polyolefin films and compounds for its antistatic and antifog performance, alongside its role as an internal lubricant and processing aid.
In film applications, GMS migrates to the surface and attracts a thin moisture layer that dissipates static charge and prevents fog formation on the inside of packaging.
Key Benefits
- Effective antistatic performance
- Reduces fogging on the inside of packaging films
- Functions as an internal lubricant and processing aid
- Good compatibility with PE and PP
- Non-ionic, broadly compatible with other additives
