Optical Brightener (OB & OB-1)
OB / OB-1
Fluorescent whitening agents that absorb UV light and re-emit blue fluorescence to counteract yellowing.
- Appearance
- Pale yellow to white powder / granules
- Chemical Family
- Benzoxazole-based fluorescent whitening agent
- Function
- UV absorption, blue fluorescence emission
Optical Brighteners OB and OB-1 are fluorescent whitening agents that absorb ultraviolet light and re-emit it as blue visible light. This offsets the natural yellow tint in polymers and raw materials, producing a visibly whiter, brighter finished product.
OB-1 offers improved thermal stability over standard OB, making it suitable for higher processing temperatures and applications demanding longer-lasting brightness retention.
Key Benefits
- Neutralizes yellow tint for a visibly whiter finish
- Enhances brightness and perceived quality
- Effective at very low dosage
- OB-1 grade offers improved heat and light stability
- Compatible with a wide range of thermoplastics and fibres
